  69. READ.EXE is a DOS program for reading and editing ASCII text files of
  70. virtually unlimited size. You can type READ FILENAME at the DOS prompt,
  71. or you can use the program's File Selection Menu. Huge files are handled
  72. by breaking them into segments.

  74. Features include cutting and pasting of text blocks, search and replace,
  75. selectable word wrap for long text lines and printer support. You can
  76. also redefine the text screen colors, and switch to a large text (40
  77. character) display.

  79. The program is ideal for creating or editing any kind of ASCII text
  80. file, as well as viewing ASCII data sets created by computer simulations
  81. or data acquisition systems. See the ASCII file READ.DOC for a complete

  100. INSTALLING FROM DISKETTE TO HARD DRIVE

  102. To install from diskette, you need to perform the following steps.
  103.  
  104.    1) Place the READ distribution diskette in the appropriate
  105.       diskette drive.
  106.  
  107.    2) Copy READ.* from the distribution disk to a directory of your
  108.       choosing on your hard drive.
  109.  
  110.    3) Change to the directory where you installed the program and
  111.       type READ [filename] at the DOS prompt to run the program
  112.       (filename is optional), or use the File Selection Menu to
  113.       choose an ASCII text file for viewing or editing.

  115. INSTALLING FROM A HARD DRIVE
  116.  
  117. If you downloaded READ from a BBS (or received it in the form of
  118. archive files from some other source), you will need to perform the
  119. following steps.
  120.  
  121.    1) Extract the contents of the archive file in a diretcory of
  122.       your choosing on your hard drive.  The procedure for doing this
  123.       varies, depending on the form in which you received the package.
  124.       If you don't have the tools and knowledge to perform this step,
  125.       you should be able to obtain directions from the same source
  126.       from which you received the package.

  128.    2) Type READ [filename] at the DOS prompt to run the program.

  133. It is suggested that you READ the text file READ.DOC for a complete
